Not a tree, but Kerria japonica 'Pleniflora' grows and blooms in shade. It
gets to be maybe 10 ft tall or a little more. If you don't have it, you
should! Variegated red twig dogwood is very shade tolerant and again is
about 10 ft tall. I am told that my serviceberries will eventually be 10'
tall or more. My oak-leaf hydrangea is at least that tall and does great
in full shade. None of these is fancy but they all should be about right
for you, and inexpensive.
