Wow! What a resource! Thanks, Diann. Girard rings a bell; I think maybe
there are even some hybrids by that name. That might be a good one to
start with.
And, Dan, I don't think we DO have a local Rhododendron Society. Never
heard that one was around, but I'll check the National and see what's
closest. Many thanks!
Incidentally, I recently got a catalog from Arbor Village in MO, very good
for unusual trees, and was sad to find, when I looked under Rhododendron,
that they say they are "not the happiest of campers in the Midwest" and
carry ONE variety that supposedly does adequately. I hope I'm not kidding
myself here.
But I heard from Tammy in MO who successfully grows PJM hybrids, at least.
And she found them at WalMart no less!
