Hi Bobbi,

Don't know anything about the Hawthorn, but have you concidered the
Twisty Baby Black Locust (Robinia pseudoacacia `Lace Lady`)?  It has
contorted branches and leaflets and is supposed to get to 10-12' high,
though the one I saw was bigger than that.
