Bobbi, I have a hawthorn, I think the common name is Washington. It is a
very popular ornamental around here. It is located just outside our front
door. I have never noticed a scent at any time of the year but the robins
really love it. They knock all the fruit off and then the battle on the
ground over it. Of course the seeds come up in all my beds but I think it is
worth it. I would highly recommend this particular type of hawthorn. If you
have more questions I could dig Dirr out and see what he says to refresh my
memory.
