Narda, if by Yellowwood, you are referring to Xanthocerus sorbifolia, your
sister did a good thing. They are not widely planted or known. I have had
mine for several years. They bear loose clusters of white flowers in the
spring and each flower has a red center. The foliage resembles
Mountainash. I got mine mailorder as a baby. I've been getting seeds from
it the last couple of years and have been giving them away. It is a small
tree, as I recall, not getting to more than 30'. Mine is currently still a
youngster at 15'. It is hardy in Zone 4. I'm all for diversity in our
tree populations. I have 34 different kinds of trees on my 8 acres.
