I have a planting of a dark red Dianthus purchased about 10 years ago as
an annual that still blooms every spring, rests in hot weather, and then
starts up again in fall. Don't know the name, in fact it probably doesn't
have one; it came in a 6-pak of mixed dianthus; but it is a mass of
flowers now. Lovely!

Another plant that is blooming it's little heart out right now is Alyssum
'Easter Basket (Bonnet?)'. I thought this was supposed to be an annual,
but it keeps coming back year after year. Must be a good reseeder. I have
a blanket of various shades of purple.
