Re: [SG] IMPATIENS


Dear Bobbi:

Impatiens self seed quite easily.  In August I usually take some of the seeds
the plants produce and sprinkle them in a pot of soil.  When it is time to
bring them inside, they are small impatiens.  Also, you can cut the original
plant way back and bring it inside.  Usually, it will start to grow again from
the base and produce a fairly healthly plant.  Also, you might find some
seedlings in the parent plant's pot because  they reseed like crazy.  I dug up
a bunch of little seedlings today, put them in little pots and brought them
inside because a frost is predicted for this evening in Massachusetts.

I also put cuttings in water for years and had nice plants.  However, I was
not always totally successful.  Sometimes they would root, but other times
they failed to root.
