Has anyone had any experience using these? I'm told that there are some
inexpensive but good ones on the market and would appreciate any info.
Garden books always airily recommend having the local agricultural
extension agent test your soil, which I suspect is a big hassle. Comments?
To give you the big picture, I just planted 3 blueberry bushes and am
wondering how much ongoing soil-amendment labor I'm in for. My guess is
that soil in our area generally is neutral to alkaline, as it is basically
yellow clay. In our yard, however, it is quite loamy now. We have azaleas
that seem to do quite well with a minimum of azalea food and copper
sulphate maybe every two years. I have the impression that blueberries'
need for acidic soil is even greater than azaleas', but I've also been
told by local gardeners that blueberries do fine here. Comments?
Thanks.
