hi, hope i'm not too late to include what has become one of my faves for
dark, dark, under the black bamboo dark shade.
it's iris japonica. i dont know what the hardiness rating is for this, but
it thrives in my formerly zone 7 a (north ga) shade.
it is a weeting fan of leaves 12-18" tall, and evergreen here. in spring it
has tiny cristata type light blue flowers borne on a small bract. it always
has several flowers per fan. it runs just under the mulch, and when exposed,
has no real root system to speak of. it is evergreen, and glossy, so it makes
a great show all year here.
