Re: Ferns

Hello Bobbi,
I began my garden with the native ferns over 15 years ago and they are
still there forming a part of the backbone of my garden. New York fern,
Ostrich, Christmas, Interrupted, Cinnamon and Royal among others. Christmas
is the only one that is evergreen. There are many other non-native ferns in
the garden now, but these are kind of like old friends. Got to have them
around even though new friends are formed over the years.
I moved my spread of Sensitive fern to a "better" spot and killed it.
Have to get it back again in the future.

I guess I am a reactionary when it comes to ferns. Is there anybody else
out
there at all who loves the oldies (as well as the newbies)? One that I can
get
real emotional about is Sensitive Fern. It has that prehistoric look.
Another is
Ostrich Fern esp. in the spring when the crosiers emerge. Christmas Fern
is a
third that is nice. I had it at the old house and miss it now. Must aquire
some
somehow.

Question--admirers of Sensitive Fern, where do you grow it, and with what,
for
best effect?
