Hello Again Barbara,
I do not mean this to be a commercial.... and you do not have to purchase
anything to read ...my web site catalog does have a
few photos up for you to take a look at and there are descriptions of
literally hundreds of shade plants both native and non-native to read
about. Also there is a newsletter section that has articles to read about
combinations and suggestions. Print out some to read if you do not have the
internet time available.
In an earlier message you asked about when to plant and I left that one
out. Now is the best time to plant. Fall planting is the best time in my
opinion. The ephemerals are dormant now or a few remain going dormant.
Plant them now, water and mulch and they will awaken in there new home nest
spring never knowing they have been moved. Over winter they will have a
chance to settle in and send out feeder roots and be established before
bloom time. I loose far fewer plants by planting at this time of the year.
