Re: [SG] Shady plants under tree

Well, there are a *lot* of plants that will grow under trees - just about
my entire garden is under trees and some of them are maples. You're in a
colder zone than I, so it is likely that some of the plants I've been
writing about, in my current series of articles on Planting Under Trees,
won't be hardy for you - but if you care to take a squint at this series,
it may give you some ideas. I've also talked, in the first parts of the
series, about how to deal with adding soil immediately under trees -
something you need to be a tad careful about. The URL to the current
article is in my SIG and you can, if you wish, get to the previous ones
from my front page pretty easily.

Whether or not you can provide extra water will make a difference in what
you can grow as well as how far your maple is limbed up.
