Hi...basically Historic Irises are those irises that were introduced over 30
years ago. Here is their webpage for more information:

http://www.worldiris.com/public_html/level1/TOC.html

There is also the American Iris Society page which has a link to the
Historic Iris page as well...

www.irises.org/

These irises are bearded irises in all sizes and colors. Many of the older
irises were the parents of many beautiful and popular irises of today. I
found it facinating that irises that were hybridized in the 1800's, early
1900's were still available today. I even have one from 1612 that I got at
my local iris society sale! There are several mail order sources for these
irises and I can recommend a few to you as well:

Superstition Iris Gardens, CA/email randrcv@sierratel.com
Winterberry Iris Gardens, VA/ email vspoon@aol.com
Iris City Gardens, TN/email icity@msn.com/ www.iriscitygardens.com

Let me know if there is any other questions that I can answer for you.
