Re: borer damage in stalks

Hello All,
I thought that I would add my two cents for what it is worth. In past seasons I
have noticed that some of the iris buds(siberian) had some if not all of the
buds apparently chewed off during the night- some damage to stem, but mostly the
buds. So, a few hours after dark I went out with a flashlight and there I found
several of what I can only describe as climbing cutworms. I picked these off
and found no more damage to the irises on most plants and caught a couple more
worms on a few other nights and then found no further damage to the iris buds.
Strange, but true. Has anyone else come across such critters?
