warning about 'spammers'

Hello,

There are folks who are 'spamming' flower lists on eGroups (onelist). They
are trying to promote their "New Gardening Advice Newsletter" and they are
changing the return address(eds) they are using. The iris-talk list was hit
and also some other flower lists.

I have taken the unusual step and have banned the two addresses I know they
use from subscribing to the Sibrob. They will automatically be turned away
but they may will in all probability concoct other free web e-mail
addresses. This is most likely to do with trying to peddle their "free"
newsletter which will soon be upgraded to a paid subscription OR they are
just trying to get e-mail addresses for another scheme OR just pranksters.
AOL, Yahoo and almost all other web
mail programs have a set policy against spammers. I have written to
Yahoo and AOL with their known e-mail addresses.

Anyway, I caution you all to be on the look-out for anything that sounds
remotely like the "New Gardening Advice Newsletter" and do not
SUBSCRIBE to it.

Cheers,

Ellen
