OT: Dividing versicolors

I have a big clump of Iris Versicolor 'Whodunnit' that I'd like to split
just to keep it thrifty. What is the best time to dig and divide this plant?
Early Spring, or Fall?
I know....it's not a siberian. But it grows near some in my garden. ;-)
