Since I wasn't expecting the plants for
another month, the planting area is not ready. The planting area is full
sun
so I wouldn't have planted the new divisions there now no matter what. Any
other advice about what do? <<<<

Harold,

Shade's a good idea, but in our part of the country pots during a hot spell
wouldn't work. The black plastic collects heat and the roots cook! Our
temps can easily stay in the 90s during the summer for an extended period.

I've had the best luck heeling in plants and throwing a doubled shade cloth
over them. For only a few plants I shade with 5 gallon buckets which are
removed at dusk and replaced before the sun climbs too high.

Good luck,
