Re: Re: S-95-57-2

Hi Lana, we do appreciate the help. We want to introduce it next year, and
finding names is one of the hardest parts of introducing irises. So many of
the good ones and not so good ones have been taken. Creme Brulee is on
target with the way we think about this series of seedlings - sweet desserty
things like custard and flan. Unfortunately the name was taken for a TB in
the '80s. On the other hand I had a creme brulee in a nice restaurant in
Newton last year with an appropriate name for this iris. I'll run it by Jan
to see how she likes it and then Keith to see if it's been taken. I think
you'll like it too but I hope you don't mind if I keep it to myself until
it's registered.

Dawn Explosion is nice, but the flower is small and doesn't fit the name in
my mind.

It comes from a cross of unnamed siblings of Sarah Tiffney and Dawn Waltz.
We've been extremely excited by the results of crossing these two families
together. Attractive, smallish flowers with a new color combinations - some
very smooth and some very speckled - have come out of these crosses. The
forms are simple without a lot of fussy ruffling, though I'm sure that will
come with time. It made me very happy to watch them all open for the first
time, and very sad to throw away their siblings when the time came. They
were almost all attractive and different. We'll be introducing three or four
of them in the coming years.

Thanks again for the help. Marty
