Tissue Culture

From: bstassen@comp.uark.edu (Robert E. Stassen)

It may seem like 6 or 8,000 years ago, but as an undergrad research project,
I attempted tissue culture with iris parts, and although I did my best to
sterilize all tissue samples before adding them to the agar, as time passed,
each week I'd have to discard one or two "flasks" because of fungal growth.
Although all tissues grew (100 cultures), they all had to be discarded
before I could transplant them. Has anyone been able to solve this problem?
