You don't say where you're located but this looks like a Louisiana iris of
some type. The scapes of I. brevicaulis (just one of the species) typically
zig-zag back and forth sharply. This species runs more to the blue-violet
colors so it's probably a hybrid.
Should be easy to grow in average garden soil as well as marshy areas. Just
be sure to give it plenty of room.
