Hi Ellen, and robins,
I belong to other plant groups and societies. They all have pop polls. They
are all in the following format: A medium group of popular plants listed in
Alphabetical order, and a place to write in votes as well. Recently, the
Region 3 American Hemerocallis Society Regional Vice President has been
extensively emailing all members in his region ( over 1000, I think), to get
them to vote. This has worked out very well. If I am correct, the response
rate was about 40%.
In many societies, the garden judges or voting judges select a group of
popular plants to vote on , and there are write ins. Jim
