Hello everyone,
I am an iris lover from South West Germany and I am
glad to be allowed to join your group. In my garden I grow mostly bearded irises
(named varieties and a few seedlings) but also a few species and several
Siberian irises. Since I saw pictures of Siberian irises of German hybridizer
Mr. Tamberg I am hooked (unfortunately he lives about 800 kilometers away from
me so I am not sure if I will ever be able to visit his garden during bloom
time). Three years ago I made my first Siberian iris crosses (the parents are
some older varieties like Caesars brother) and I hope to see some seedling
blooms this June. I had some seedling blooms last year but nothing worth showing
(the seedlings strongly resembled their parents). Last year I made more crosses.
For example I crossed my favorite Sib Here be Dragons with So van Gogh and
received about 30 seeds. It will be very exciting to know what will come out of
this cross.
I hope to learn more about hybridizing Siberian
irises and look forward to your reports and pictures.
Greetings from Germany
Anja
