Re: HYBRIDIZING

Hi Barbara,

You'll need to remove everything except the stylearms. I've found a tweezers works best for me in removing the anthers. Bees won't recognize anything without falls and there's no chance of wind pollination if the anthers are gone.

From my experience, you'll have a better chance of making interspecific crosses if you dedicate the clump to making the same cross and the pod parent is a bit stressed. This usually happens anyway toward the end of the bloom season as things start to warm.

Good morning fellow iris lovers:  I am thinking about putting PCNI pollen on some siberian iris this spring.  Any ideas on how to keep the siberian from self-pollinating?  I planted some siberian seed last fall and it is starting to germinate.  Just can't seem to quit dabbing pollen and sprouting seeds.  Getting way too old to keep up with an enlarging garden.
