Re: Re: Hybridizing

Hi Anja
Just to let you know I am visiting Dr Tomas Tamberg and his wonderful irises with Olga Wells this early June.(she being the editor of our  BIS yearbook, and a very good edition it is too, especially as she took over at the last minute from Claire Austin who was too  too busy to continue as she has a very busy nursery to run) We're hoping its not too late for the irises, but he has some glorious day lily's too.His website was irresistible for me too. I purchased six of his Siberians which  are arriving in April.I have some old seedlings which haven't flowered very well in the past (which may get ditched )and also some seedlings from 'Peter Hewitt' the recent Dykes medal winner  starting their second year.It will be interesting to see if they flower this year and what colors they turn out. They are already showing growth as our temperatures are now in double figures. The snow fall in America sounds great, but as I now have snowdrops, hellebores ,reticulatas ,Daphne's crocus and others out it would be depressing. We did have our own snowstorms here this year. Now cleared up.Today is sunny and spring- like so it  will soon be time for GARDENING.
Regards

Hi Barbara,
your intended cross sounds interesting. Please tell me more about it. Is the parent siberian iris tetraploid or diploid? Will the result of your cross be called a Calsibe or is a Calsibe something different?
Greetings from Germany
Anja
