I always have problems treading through the second paragraph and drown on
page 187 of the AIS handbook. The thoughts are not totally coherent to me, it
starts with a decision for judges and ends with the overall decision in the
hands of the hybridizer. The hybridizer and registrar set the class? If the
judge believes the plant does not fit the classification? What? The judge
needs to continuously reference a registration handbook??
While it is clear a "sibtosa" is a SPEC-X an interspecies cross (siberian x
setosa).
A SPEC is a selection of a species from the wild but may be classified as a
SPEC or within another class (ex. I. sibirica x-form, SIB or SPEC) as the
hybridizer sees fit to register.
A selection from a cross of a SPEC (I. sibirica x-form x Roaring Jelly) and a
siberian cultivar is a hybrid Siberian and would be classified in with all
other Siberian hybrids.
Glug, glug,
Bill
