Anna Mae,
I think it is important that every species cross be questioned, without regard
to when it was done. Though it may seem impolite to challenge a hybridizers
work, it is no different than the criticism and possible rejection that occurs
in any other field.

If we fail to question claims as they are made AND correct the records, we make
it ever more difficult for newcomers to the field to grasp this complicated
subject. Fifty years from now, when a person tries to determine where to go with
their hybridizing, are they going to be misled because we are not dubious with
respect not only to what has happened before, but to what is happening now?

Cheers.
