I think that careful hybridizers, who open the flower and protect it from
stray pollen still can have a cross that isn't true. My strangest thing that
ever happened is when I planted some (or) a bee pod seeds from Pink Haze (110
seeds/73 plants) and 100% were in wine colors and yet when I either selfed
Pink Haze or other pinks I never had that happen. There were always pinks and
a minority of wine seedlings. There are still some good wine seedlings that
are still better wines than we have being grown even today and that was I
think in 1978. One I especially like has a gold haft. anna mae miller
