Hi Jim, just saw your question and like Laurie in Northern
Minnesota, it grows well here in Northern New Hampshire. This is
with a caveat: the alba (white form) seems to be more hardy
than the 'blue' varieties. The alba is also what I would call a
mini (nana?) ...smaller flowers than the blues. After a few
years, the blue varieties either disappear or don't flower (for
me). The white could overtake my back garden if I don't cut it
back and dig it up. I also sent Laurie some of it last summer.
:-)

I received my initial plants from Phil Cook in Northern Vermont
so they were acclimated to our climate. Iris cristata is not
native here, of course. We find only Iris versicolor in the
wild.

Ellen - the mercury never got above zer for four days and it is
a heat wave now at 10 F (-12 C)...Berlin had an 'unofficial' low
of -39 (40 C) on Friday according to a TV station in Maine..but
only -26 F (-33 C) at my house.
