Hi Terry, Anna Mae, Brook and other members of
Sibrob.
I to full support what Terry and Anna Mae have made
comment on and sincerely believe the SSI needs a wiki of it's own on it's web
site with links back to the AIS. The SSI is truly an International Society of
devoted hybridizers and growers with amazing collections of Siberian irises. In
the link from the AIS web site to the SSI web site, its mission statement say's
"The Society exists for the culture, enjoyment and improvement of Siberian
Irises.
Over time we have seen the endless devotion of long
tedious hours by many members of SSI putting together what is today "The
Cumulative Check List" and then for that list to move another step
forward into the era of Digital to be placed on a DVD and in PDF file
format for membership distribution. By all means promote the SSI in
the body of the AIS along with a selection of Siberian irises. I often wonder
with such exciting Siberian advancements when the AIS will in its wisdom give a
Dykes Memorial Medal to a beardless Iris. You loyalty should be for the
preservation and promotion of the SSI if you want it to survive in this modern
era of electric advancement and availabity.
You have a digital prepared Cumulative Check list
of Siberian Irises on DVD disc and also in PDF file format. SSI members have an
abundance of photo's, many stored away and have not been looked at for many
years. Why Does the Society not use this to its advantage and increase its
popularity while encouraging a global interest and increase of new
members to the SSI.
This world is your oyster and the pearl within the
SSI is very precious in maintaining and increasing growth of
its Society. Surely this can by used to add an amazing array of
photo's of each iris in the PDF format and be presented on the SSI web site
for it's members and visitors alike.
Terry... I believe you where the major player
in presenting this into PDF format. Can I suggest that if the committee of
the SSI are in agreement, that you prepare such a file that would not only
enhance the SSI but move it into the light of 2010 and onwards for the promotion
of the Siberian Iris. If you are keen then submit it for approval to be placed
on the SSI web site at some future date.
If you hide the light under the bed, then how will
others find you/?.. In a link.. A quick click... Opening to a set of 4 beautiful
Siberian irises... Click... just more words... and in 17 seconds they are gone..
mostly gone forever.
Regards
Eddie Johns
