John et al,
If you had the problems I have had with fungus, you would not be
so cavalier about it. It seems as though I'm "lucky" enough to be
experiencing something unusual. I would not wish these problems on
anybody, and if any of you DO think you might have a fungus-infected plant
I urge you to take steps right away. I don't like using fungicides but I
don't have another choice right now, besides giving up on irises.
As for "scorch": nothing much came out of Currier's attempt to
find out what it really is. As I recall it, his conclusion was that scorch
is not a single disease, it is the result of anything that causes the roots
to die, resulting in brown foliage.
