Siberians in hot, dry climates

This is a response to Robert Stassen's request for information about Siberians in a climate like his hot, dry summer northern Arkansas area. My Northern California summers are hot and dry so I am responding. Robert asked me to limit the list to my top 10 but I had a tie at the bottom of the list so it turned out to be the top 13. The list (not in any type of order except for the bottom 4). All are 3 year clumps (planted in 1997).

Shaker's Prayer
Frosty Rim
Over in Gloryland - second year clump
Jeweled Crown
Coronation Anthem
Springs Brook
Spirit of York
Lilting Laura
Windwood Serenade

Springs Brook - short
Butter and Sugar - short
Rosebud Melody - short
High Standards - fewer increases

These are a number of first clumps that are looking good. Cheery Lyn and Caesar's Brother are two especially good looking.

I received a number of Siberians from Leroy late last fall. I planted a few but potted most. The ones I planted look the best of any the first year plantings. Of more than 80 potted, only one died and even the ones still in pots are looking very good. They are in the shade of a large oak and get watered twice a week.
