The Gardener's Iris Book is a good general book about all the various types
of irises. The Siberian Iris by Currier McEwen is the one book for Siberian
irises. The Sacramento Iris Society meets June 18th at the Shepard Garden
and Arts Center at McKinley Park. They have a library of various iris books
that they loan to members. I have the Gardener's Iris Book for sale. You can
also get it from AIS or a number of the internet bookstores.
"Rebloom" with Siberians is usually more of a "repeat" bloom shortly after
the initial bloom. Don't expect much of that here (Sacramento Valley).
If you are not somewhat into genetics, the first experience should probably
be reading about it. Most iris books will have some information on diploid,
tetraploid (double the number of chromosomes of a diploid) and the whole
ploidy situation.
Bloom season versus the calander varies with climate. The Canadian people
should be in bloom now. Right you Canadians? We, of course, are finished.
