Re: Gulls Wing

I think the white irises have to be compared very carefully to differentiate
between them. I saw a very large planting of Gull's Wing at Julius
Wadekaemper's in OR. He never grew Esther CDM and at one time announced they
were probably the same plant. Some of the hybridizers feel they give
differenttypes of seedlings. I saw GWing at Julius and will forward a picture
of it in the field and I do think there was yellow in the haft area. I
haven't grown King of Kings either. I do know that the glaucous upright
foliage of Esther CDM is outstanding and I am very fond of it and do feel
that it gives the sanding and color breaks that Sprinkles, Lavender Stipples,
Purple Sand and Mesa Pearl have given us and it does really give later
blooming irises. There is hardly a white that blooms before midseason-Anna
