spathe color


Christy et al,
	As far as I know, I. Sibirica does not have red or brown spathes--I don't 
know about leaf bases.  I think the descriptions Edmundas quoted are 
correct, but the brown mentioned in the descriptions of I. Sibirica is the 
brown of dried foliage, not the deep maroon of the spathes on Caesar's 
Brother, for example.  I'm not a great authority on this, but I've made a 
bit of an effort to collect Sibiricas from the SIGNA seed exchange.  No 
sign of red spathes so far.  Has anyone else noticed that Sibirica is 
harder to germinate than modern hybrids?
