Well, my SHAKER'S PRAYER bloomed today with 7 bloomstalks and five open. A sight for sore
(and tired) eyes. The Tall Bearded are ready to bloom - I think - but refuse to open up
in this cold weather. The bums! :-)

I measured SHAKER'S PRAYER at 43" today at bloom. It is registered at 33"..last year it
was (I am guessing without looking in my 'bloom book') 50". I have found in my limited
experience of growing irises in Zone 3 (about 9 years) that the tall bearded usually (but
certainly not always) bloom shorter than the registered height but many times they
surpass it.

The registered height is what the hybridizer or introducer measures on a given year?
After all the talk about dwarfs and height...mmmm.

Ellen (who just received a phone call that a garden tour will be coming on Wed....hope
they like to look at the last bloom on Medians and much foliage :-)
