short sibs

Not drawf sibs but short sibs. All mine seem to be a lot shorter this year.
I'm blaming my wet, cold spring. The few that are blooming are a good 10
inches shorter than usual and the bloom stalk is barely clearing the
foliage. One white one is blooming in the foliage and isn't making it over
the top at all yet. They have just barely started so I'm hoping the weather
settles down and lets them grow a bit but it's probably too late.
In April we had a 90 degree heatwave, in May we had measurable snow twice
and 2 frosts in June. Poor plants don't know if they are coming or going.
Not just irises but I've noticed a lot of my plants are mixed up. Some are
early, some late. Looks like more than a few of my beardeds are going to
skip blooming this year all together.
Could be my climate but I've never gotten a 3 foot tall sib. 2 feet tall is
about it. Most of mine are oldies without a name, just good hardy stock but
pretty enough so I'm hooked.
Who did I get the sib seedlings from this spring? Sorry I'm really bad with
names. Two of the bigger chunks are going to bloom! I can't wait! Only see
two buds each but it will give me a glimpse of thinks to come.
I found a light blue sib at a local garden place this week. Planted it
today. Neat sky blue with bronze veinging and a white zone near the center
of the falls. Could kick myself because I dropped the pot upside down and
I've busted all the buds. So that ends that one for this year. At least I
won't be wondering for a year about what color it is.
I've got to love the plant places around here. No name tag, not even
something telling somebody it was a sib. Only tag said mixed iris. Nice pot
full though. Looks like it wintered over in the pot. Lot of roots, lots of
new growth coming up. Was a very healthy plant until I dropped it.

A place warmer that Ellen G's but not much.
