I use the snapping off technique with bearded. Thanks for letting me know it
works for Siberians. I will be out doing that second thing in the morning.

OBTW I am going to be in your part of the country on the 14th and for a

I learned how to remove spent stalks from Carol Warner. You grasp the spent
bloom stalk and pull it toward the *center* of the clump and the whole thing
will (usually) pop right out. It's much easier than cutting each stalk down.
You
can do this anytime after the stalk is done blooming.
