I do not have many Siberians but some that I do have grow under similar
conditions. One variety is planted bordering a small pond where roots and lower two
inches of foliage are flooded each time it rains. The soil itself never dries
out. Two more varieties are planted on mounds 10 inches high in a lined pond
that holds 2 inches of water year round. All are in half or more shade.

I actually "discovered" their love of water because I am lazy and cheap. I
buy "pre-killed" bargains from retailers when they are marked down. Way, way
down! I wound up with some Siberians doing this. Not knowing where I wanted to
plant them (or how) they stayed in the pots and I set the pots in the shallow,
lined pond thinking I would make a decision later. With me stayin' lazy for a
couple more years, the Siberians stayed right there in the pots. They were
doing so well and I am so lazy that I just dumped the pots where they were
sittin', threw in some shovels of cow manure/sand mixture to make a mound and we have
both been happy with each other ever since.
