Re: What's eating my Sib buds???

Laurie,

It sounds that different things 'might' be at work in PLEASURES
OF MAY and the different stalks on ROKU OJI.

>>> (ROKU OJI) One of the secondary buds was nipped off
cleanly, 'but' two of the terminals on different stalks look
like they're half eaten from the top down. They also look a bit
slimey. <<<

If the eating of the buds is happening during the night, sure
sounds like an animal is doing it. If it were insects doing the
damage, the buds (I don't think...)wouldn't be completely gone
with no residue on the ground or on the flower overnight.
Somebody's snacking.

We are having a black bear influx from the forest this time of
year....but our bears are brazen and eat the vegetables in the
middle of the day or late in the afternoon or anytime they darn
well feel like it. Bears don't go after flowers unless they are
really hungry - never saw a bear eat a flower here.

Are you sure it isn't the deer? Do you have moose in your area?

Just trying think what could snap the bud off completely or half
of it and gobble it down.
