Just to add to the discussion, our biggest problem with something eating
siberian buds is the goldfinches. They peck away at the buds in the bulgy stage.
Sometimes they sit on other buds while they are dong this and break them off.
A local bird expert told us that while goldfinches eat mostly seeds, but
their diet also includes twenty per cent salad. Hard to think of siberian buds
as 'salad'. Jan
