{Disarmed} Re: Hi from New Member


For what it's worth:  I always mulch the newly planted iris the first fall & winter.  This includes the Siberians, of which I. Sanguinea is one ancestor.  Since I live in northwest Iowa, I would think our winters would not be too different, thus mulching would seem to be in order for you, too.  We were always considered USDA zone 4, but a recent publication from the Arbor Day Foundation showed an new zonal map with us definitely in zone 5.  I'm not sure what zone you are in, but you can easily check that and act accordingly.
