Thanks for the info on AZ AP. Now, I know for sure I wasn't sort of 
seeing things.  Yes, it really is too bad that in cooler, wetter weather
this condition seems to come out, because the flowers do last several
days longer in the cooler weather.  I found this same condition on
another very nice iris 'Alpine Lake' a SDB iris.  Oh well, that's life.
