Siberian species

Hello all!

After discussing versicolor/virginicas at the home of Joan Cooper yesterday
and after looking through some of her extensive slide collection, my mind
wondered back to Siberian species. I have always been fascinated by the
articles of I. sanguinea forms in Japan. I have also been curious why SSI
(or SIGNA) or a group of us have not pursued obtaining all these varieties
from Japan. ( I know nothing of the vagaries of importing seed or plant
material)

For additional reference to the plant material I am discussing see the
Spring and Fall '92 issue of TSI.

I personally have I. sanguinea "Kamayama", I. Sanguinea " Snow Queen", I.
sibirica nana alba, and will obtain I. sanguinea "Kobana" this Spring. I am
willing to work with others to obtain new material from Japan.
