The UK Ministry of Agriculture Fisheries and Food is currently working to
bring in US and NZ style spot checks and inspections of baggage for
travellers, and will remove all food and vegetable material for which the
traveller does not have the correct documentation. These checks should be
up-and-running by mid summer at all major airports.
Found this out the other day in conversation with our local PHSI inspector.
