The thread on planting deep in cold climates is just as appropriate for hot climates. I plant both Siberians and Louisianas deep and then mulch on top of that. I was advised to do so on the LAs and just kind of slide into doing so with Siberians. I lost a few Siberians but there is no way of knowing why or if more would have been lost with normal planting.
