I forgot to check up. Did you get the vest Carol Breedlove and I made? I am
sorry you were disappointed in the way they grow Siberians. We've gotten used
to it. No reason, except a bit warm, but they try to grow them like TBs and
it doesn't work. You should consider going for the Sectional meetings. Some
good information comes out of that. You surely weren't disappointed in the
Stone Garden. I talked to Dave Nisw. and he was thrilled to see all the Halos
grown together. Sure wish I had taken a picture of that. I did look at them
and they were doing wonderful. Actually Dave, Keith Keppel and Joe Ghio
lucked out this year. Fantastic in more than 1 garden. Those beds were 5,4 &
2 yrs. old in that garden. I loved Corlew's Cherub Choir, an earlier pink at
Madlinger's Gd. and Glenn didn't see it. Don't know how he could have missed
it. That garden was not the cleanest garden but it did have some charm and
she is really a gardener. Bet she's doing all that herself. Must check that
out. Is she a hybridizer?
I sort of lost Saturday so didn't get to the Dabney Nursery, instead I did
one of the Judges Invitational class where we were all given the same
material to construct an arrangement on a pedestal. I was competing against 3
Southern NCGarden Judges and they knew how to use the plant materials but I
did have fun and think we had 4 nice arrangements. I met Caroline Winters
who did the paintings in the Botanical Gds. and I loved them and she was also
hostess in several gardens and really lovely. It is not easy putting on a
convention, there are never enough local people to do all the jobs that have
to be done.
I am looking forward to the 2003 Siberian/Specie Convention, June 12-15, at
Hamilton ONT.
Need to get some plants organized for 3-Club Plant Sale tonight. We also have
the Biennial Gilmore Piano Festival and I am trying to take in some of that.
Crabapples are in bloom, Redbud and Dafs are going fast. Tulips also. anna mae
