Hi Bill, what kind of gray do you have in mind? Light or dark? Dove or
charcoal? What use do you see for it? Who would buy it?
The same goes for black. Red, blue or purple black? Where would you use it
in the garden? Or would it be a cut flower? Years ago I crossed Sultan's
Ruby with a seedling that no longer exists and got a seedling that in its
second year of bloom was black with a big white signal. It was tall and
glorious. We threw it out thinking who would buy a black flower?!!! Too
bad. Every once in a while I think about making a similar cross with
Sultan's Ruby, but other things present themselves anfd SR is way up the hill
from the seedlings. Too harrassed and tired to make the trip. Good luck,
Marty
