Hi Ellen,
With the files area, a person just clicks on Files, then clicks on
the "Upload File" button. This gives you an option to go and get the
files you chose to upload on your computer's hard drive.
At this point, you give the file a description and then egroups lets
you choose if you wish to let the rest of the list know that a file
has been uploaded.
When viewing the files, the type of server that egroups is hosted on
does not have a problem with spaces in the names. I am able to view
all the files that I sent to the files area. I received no error
whatsoever. I do not have any space in the file names, though, they
have underscore " _" between the words.
They are not an url, but uploaded .jpeg files to the egroups server.
What you mean that they weren't addressed properly? They are fully
viewable right now in the egroups sibrob Files area on my computer.
Ellen, I am a list owner for another group on egroups, and we have
never had a problem with uploading any files in this method. I do not
monitor the files that come in, though, as my list is actually
considered "unmoderated" which is what is listed for this list as
well.
In the list options for this list, it says:
Options:
• Listed in directory
• Open membership
• Unmoderated
• All members may post
• Primary language: English
• Public archives
• Email attachments are permitted
Why are you moderating the files (or maybe how are you moderating the
files is the question) when the list options says "un-moderated"? Do
you feel that this is necessary step? I am curious, as I have never
had any problems uploaded files to egroups ever, but then again, they
usually go directly to that particular list, without
someone 'checking them' first.
Are you still using a Macintosh computer, Ellen? Maybe the files are
actually okay, but the errors are happening as the files are being
checked first by your system.
This has me really puzzled. Can everyone else read the files which
were uploaded by me to the files section? Harold are you out there?
