Thanks Harold for that r&i info...I have also emailed Keith
Keppel about the web page offering...I think he has said or
somebody has said that it qualifies as a catalogue
offering.
Ellen (the skunk thing - now to get a skunk repellent for
my porch/deck - saw a thing about getting a replica of a
horned owl to put on the property..I think not ;-)

ASI (Aril Society) has done a number of registrations and
introductions for historic arilbreds.
Essence of skunk is a butyl mercaptan dimer. I don't think
it will have a significant effect on the Siberian foliage.

introduced anything with the AIS, so please, hybridizers,
correct this as needed:
1. registration = filling out a form from the AIS Registrar
and returning it with a name (not previously taken with the
AIS) for a small fee (?). This is _usually_ done by the
hybridizer or his/her agent _but_ not always.
2. introduction = offering for public sale of a registered
iris. We know that there have been some irises offered for
sale in catalogues that _were not_ registered with the AIS.
They are not eligible for any AIS awards until officially
registered. *Likewise, a registered iris that has _not_
been
introduced is not eligible for any AIS awards.
3. I know that some of the Sections OR the AIS has done
some of the above for irises in commerce as well as some
catalogue sellers (I think). I know that the JI Section has
registered irises but am not going to go through the SI
checklist and see if we have done it (SSI) ...probably
have.
