Acceptible Commercial Divisions

I probably have a different view on commercial divisions than most as
I send out plants the way I plant my own. I never plant connected
divisions unless they are small, and then they are divided into 2 or
3 small fan divisions. I have had much better luck this way than
planting the division all connected. The reasoning for this is if a
disease hits the plant it doesn't spread through all divisions, just
those connected together. It seems there are more and more "unusual"
diseases hitting the Siberians these days. Also, too often connected
rhizomes are stacked on top of each other which doesn't give the
newly planted plant the optimum growing condition.

I have been growing and buying Siberians for over 35 years and have
received quite the gamut of divisions ranging from one large (a $45
introduction!) to clumps of up to a dozen fans. I consider
acceptable minimums as 2 really large or 3 large fans, or course more
is always more enjoyable to receive!
